April (baby) showers bring May flowers! The Moms due in May typically celebrate their bundle-to-be the month before, boasting parties with floral themes and an overall springy atmosphere. After the light and airy celebration, sometimes accompanied by the clouds early spring can bring, comes the main event . . . the May babies! Bursting onto the scene during one of the most beautiful times of the year, the little darlings born this month are very unique. Here are some fun facts about your new May sweetheart!

Fun Facts About May Babies

Growth and Hope

Your newborn has, without a doubt, changed your life for the better. But that may be because your little one is naturally prone to sweet transformations! This symbolic month is named after the Roman deity Maia. According to The Old Farmers Almanac, Maia oversaw the progression of the plants and crops, making her the goddess of growth.1 Her name translates in English to the month we now know as May. During this month, we see more colors blooming from the ground, taking us into sweet summertime. The sun begins to shine longer, giving you even more moments of the day to soak up that new baby smell!

The Bull and The Twins

Zodiac girl Taurus

Your new little love will fall into one of two zodiac signs that cover the month of May. If you give birth anywhere between May 1st and May 20th, they will fall under the sign of the Taurus. As an Earth Sign, they’re known to be practical and grounded. Unsurprisingly, a child of the bull would be stubborn, but that trait will often serve them well in life! You’ll always know where they stand, and they will be determined to succeed in most things they try. A Taurus baby is destined for greatness!

Zodiac gir Gemini

If you have a baby later in the month, May 21st through the 31st, they will fall under the Gemini sign. Gemini children are super adaptable. They are flexible and smart, allowing them to fit into almost any situation. This sign is lovingly referred to as “the twins” because its suitors almost possess two different sides to themselves, allowing them to adapt perfectly to many different situations! The twin reference is just a cute saying unless you’re having two!

Green with . . . LOVE!

Any new baby is as precious as a jewel, but your May baby is as special as an Emerald! A valuable stone that is fairly rare and rich in its hue represents this month’s birthstone. The deeper the green – the more precious the jewel! The emerald represents all matters of the heart. It is rumored to be able to open your mind to unconditional love and devotion. But Moms, I have to tell you . . . you won’t need an emerald to do that. The moment you lay eyes on your new May baby, you will immediately experience both of those unwavering emotions!

Lily of the Valley

Lily of the Valley flowers are also known as the May lily. This bloom has many meanings, including good luck, serenity, happiness, sweetness, prosperity, purity, innocence, and more.2 Common hawthorn tree is a species of flowering plant in the rose family also associated with May. It represents love and protection. There’s a lot of love and luck in these two, which means good things for your little babe.

Health

A couple of studies looked at disease risk in relation to a person’s birth month. We found it extremely interesting that one study from the University of Columbia found that people born in May have the lowest disease risk.3 Another published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association reviewed many diseases and revealed that some months like May and July, had zero at-risk diseases.4 Fascinating!
