Sometimes it’s still hard for me to believe that I am actually having a baby. Where has the time gone? While planning my baby shower and getting ready for the event the morning of, I was kind of in denial that this shower was actually for my baby and me! I’ve been to so many baby showers over the years for friends and clients, but this one was for us. 🙂 And it was beautiful.
I loved tons of things about it, so I had to share it all with you. Here are my top 10 favorite things about my baby shower! Hopefully, this will inspire you for your next baby shower too.
10. Invitations

Invitations are what set the tone for your event. The quality and look of your invites let your guests know what they can expect! We ordered our shower invitations from Minted.com. Minted is a company that I have used many times before for our Christmas cards and other event invitations, and they always come out beautifully. So going to Minted was a no-brainer for us. They have many cute designs that make it very difficult to choose from. We ultimately decided on this beautiful blue Blooming Baby design. I thought it would go perfectly with our event look.

I selected not only the invitation but also the “Thank You” card set and personalized stamps that said “Baby Spears.” They were perfect! Minted has everything covered for your invitation needs, so it makes it super simple for you to order and send out.

9. Baby Games
Not everyone likes playing baby games at showers. I can admit that some of them are a little cheesy, but I also think playing baby shower games is a great way to break the ice and get to know the other guests at the event.

We set up a game table at our venue and had three games laid out for our guests to play. We also had our beautiful prizes from Kendra Scott on display. How can you not play a game when jewelry is on the line! Haha! I’m a lover of all things Kendra Scott, so we were so excited to have some of their beautiful pieces as our game prizes. My friends were so excited! If you do the same, your guests will love them too!

For the games, we had this “Fill in the Blank Nursery Rhymes” game. It was tougher than I thought! I really thought I would do well at this game since I have sung so many songs to my clients’ babies, but there were a couple that I had no clue about. We all laughed when finding out the answers. 🙂

The “Guess the Baby Food” game can be interesting, especially if you are sensitive to certain textures or flavors. We know it’s not for everyone, but we had a great time guessing what each flavor was. We figured if our babies are eating these things, then trying a little taste test wouldn’t hurt. My sister-in-law was the champ at this one!

The third game that we did was guessing the price of baby products. Kind of like the Price is Right, but all things baby. Of course, our wonderful Mary Alice took the prize for that game. She knows way too much about babies and baby products. 😉
8. Sign in Book
I wanted to be able to remember in the future who came to my baby shower, so one of my amazing hosts put together a sign-in book where all of our guests could take a picture with a polaroid camera and then write a sweet little note to baby and me. I absolutely love it! It’s great to have a picture of each of them on our special day and read their well wishes.

7. Decor

An event is all about the details. Our baby boy’s room is a coastal/ ocean theme, so we wanted to carry that on to our baby shower. I absolutely loved how everything came out.

The beautiful table cloths, napkins, and chargers are from House of Hough. The ladies there are seriously amazing, so I had to give them a call when planning for the shower. I loved this whole look. Half Moon Lettering also did each person’s place card. So cute!

The mantle was also a great focal point. I loved the cascading bay leaf garland, the flowers, and the shells with the welcome sign. Everyone placed their baby shower gifts right in front of the fireplace, and we had a chair for me so that I could sit and open presents where everyone could see.
6. Flowers

I love pretty flowers. Who doesn’t?! In the center of each estate table, we had bay leaves, silver dollar eucalyptus, patience white garden roses, white and blue hydrangeas, polar star white roses, and white lisianthus. Throughout it, we placed some sand dollars and white starfish. It came out gorgeous.
5. Food & Desserts

The shower was held at Ouisie’s Table, and we chose a menu that we thought everyone would enjoy. I also really liked how the restaurant made our brunch menus match our invitation colors. It was perfect. Everything looked so good and tasted even better. I personally ordered the French toast. I have too much of a sweet tooth, so I couldn’t pass that up. 😉 It was delicious!

Speaking of sweets, my dear friend Jenny got these custom macarons. So pretty, right? They were fabulous!

And this cake. Oh my goodness. Not only was it gorgeous, but it was also so moist and delicious. We all loved it. Ouisie’s Table did a tremendous job!
4. Hair & Makeup

Since we had the amazing Ailee from Snapshots and My Thoughts photograph the shower (aren’t her photos wonderful?!), I had to make sure that my look was on point! I got a spray tan two days before the event by Stacey from GloGirl Spray Tanning, I got my dress from Ingrid & Isabel, my shoes from Neimans, and I had my hair and make up done by the incredible team at Blushworthy. I felt so beautiful that day. If only I could look like this every day. 😉 haha!
3. Mom-mosa Bar

We had a great menu designed by Rachel from Half Moon Lettering above our Mom-mosa bar. It was huge and such a show-stopper. On the right of the table were the sweets and on the left were the drinks!

The “Happy Pushing” sign made me happy. The diameter is also 10 cm which I thought was perfect since you start pushing at 10 cm. 😉

Rachel also wrote each of our guests’ names on a champagne flute. That was their party favor!! I thought that was such a great idea for a favor. It’s something that all of the girls would use in the future.

I enjoyed a delicious glass of cranberry juice. 😉
2. Signage & Calligraphy

If you haven’t noticed by now . . . I was swooning over all of Rachel’s work from Half Moon Lettering. She is so incredibly talented and professional. I can’t recommend her enough for your next event! You should definitely check out her site to see all the beautiful work she has done.

1. My Dearest Friends

Nothing makes an event sweeter than the friends and family that attend. These ladies above were my wonderful hostesses. I can’t thank them enough for helping me with the planning, organizing, ordering, and execution of it all. It was my dream baby shower and I can’t thank them enough. Having them there to celebrate this special time meant the world to me.

I hope everyone that attended had as much fun as I did at my shower. I could feel the love in the room and didn’t want it to end. My son and I are so blessed to have such incredible people in our lives.
As you can tell, I loved everything about this event. As I said initially, I hope that my shower inspires you when planning your dream shower. 🙂
