When I was pregnant with my first baby, I was sure I was having a girl. At the ultrasound, the nurse’s words, “I see a penis!” completely shocked me. I cried, not because I was disappointed, but because I hadn’t expected to be having a boy. Suddenly, none of my carefully chosen girl names would do.

I needed boy names that felt just as exciting: stylish, memorable, and a little unexpected. To build this list, I asked more than 200 moms which boy names they thought were coolest. Their suggestions helped shape the list below.

If you’re looking for cool boy names, say your favorites with your last name and keep track of the ones you want to come back to. The names are listed alphabetically to make them easier to compare.
