Over the years of working with expecting women, I’ve seen their excitement, but also nervousness, as they go through pregnancy. They all want to get it right and do what is best for their baby and for themselves. They also want to ensure that they know what to do, what not to do, what to prepare for, and what to expect. With so much information and so many products available, it can be confusing to know where to begin. As a doula, baby planner, and mother, I love helping expecting families navigate through these times so that they can become more confident and empowered as parents. What I also really love is finding new pregnancy and postpartum essential products and services that make families’ pregnancies, births, and postpartum journeys easier and better. And I found another one that I think y’all are going to love. It’s called Wumblekin.

Wumblekin–helping to demystify pregnancy with evidence-based education and expert-curated pregnancy and postpartum essential products.

Wumblekin booklet

I recently discovered Wumblekin. Wumblekin curates and delivers boxes that include the items and educational materials that expecting and new mothers need throughout their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. These products are delivered straight to your door, right when you need them. I love that Wumblekin boxes contain products and information to help families have more successful labor and birth experiences. And the products that they have chosen have been parent-tested, physician-approved, and curated for you. I checked out each of their boxes and am familiar with all of the products. I’ve used these products myself and/or with my clients, and I would agree that these are great choices for pregnant and postpartum moms! The goodies in each Wumblekin box are chosen to support a happier, healthier, and smarter pregnancy journey.

As an educator, what I really appreciate is that Wumblekin values information first, and products second. They are demystifying pregnancy with evidence-based educational materials and expert-curated products. Wumblekin uses a holistic approach with clinically-based facts to help ease the process of pregnancy and birth. They also have a team of experts who keep their company up to date with the latest information in evidence-based practices. It’s obvious that Wumblekin’s mission is to help share the science behind pregnancy, birth, and postpartum so that expecting families can make informed decisions that are best for themselves and their babies. From your changing body to your emotional well-being, their pregnancy professionals share need-to-know information based on facts, not opinions, which we love and appreciate.

How does it work?

First, visit their website to take their quick due date quiz to determine which is the perfect box for you to get started. The results will show you what you need and when you’ll need them.

I really like that Wumblekin allows you to either purchase a single box, all of their boxes, or a subscription for the duration of your pregnancy and postpartum. Having these options available allows you to choose what is right for you. Try a single trimester box that fits your current needs, or subscribe and receive each box at your front door right when you need it. The customized ship schedule means you can sign up once and not have to worry about what products you’ll need to buy for yourself at each stage. It’s great because you can order at any point during your pregnancy journey for yourself or for a friend.

The box we reviewed — the Ultimate Labor + Birth Pack

Wumblekin has a box for each trimester of pregnancy, an Ultimate Labor + Birth Pack, as well as a Postpartum Essentials Box. As a doula, I had to check out their labor + birth pack.

When I opened it, I loved everything that came with it. I also really liked how the bag was already packed with all of the items. It’s essentially ready to go with you to your birthing place (hospital, birth center, or home)! Here’s what’s inside.

Bananafish Multi-Function Diaper Bag in Navy

As soon as you open the box, you’ll see the Bananafish Multi-Function Diaper Bag. It’s a great bag to bring with you to the hospital and fill with items that you’ll need during labor and postpartum. I love how it’s already pre-packed with expert-recommended, essential items you’ll want to have with you for labor and delivery. And once you return home, use it as your baby’s diaper bag!

Labor + Birth Booklet

What I appreciate most in this Ultimate Labor + Delivery Pack is the educational booklet included inside.

Wumblekin has reliable, comforting advice for each stage of pregnancy. The booklets in each box were created by pregnancy professionals who are also moms. I reviewed the booklet inside this Labor + Birth pack and found it to be filled with quality, evidence-based information. Any company can put together a box with different products. It takes great attention and care to choose the best products for customers and to create custom information to properly educate them for the best experience possible.

For Labor: Lip Balm, Grippy Socks, and Hair Ties

As you continue to look through the grab-and-go diaper bag, you’ll find essential items for labor and delivery. Wumblekin included Scunci 8 pc hair ties, Kindred Bravely Labor and Delivery Grippy Socks, as well as their very own lip balm! Hair ties are a must during childbirth. Giving birth is hard work. Keeping your hair out of your face so that you can stay focused and comfortable as you labor and welcome your baby is key.

A pregnant woman is trying out the Scunci 8 pc hair ties, Kindred Bravely Labor and Delivery Grippy Socks, and lip balm from Wumblekin's Labor + Birth box.

The last thing we want a woman in labor to do is to trip and fall. Labor can be exhausting and take a lot out of a woman. Hospital floors, especially, can be slippery! And if her water breaks or if there are any other fluids on the floor, we need to ensure that she won’t fall. This is why grippy socks are essential. But instead of wearing the huge, ugly hospital socks, wear these cozy and cute delivery grippy socks. Your feet will remain comfortable and you will be safe.

Another essential–lip balm! It may seem simple, but you will be doing a lot of big, deep breathing during labor. It’s common for women to get very dry lips with all of the heavy breathing and hard work they are doing. Lip balm is something that I always recommend bringing in a hospital bag. But now you don’t have to remember to pack it because it’s already there with Wumblekin’s lip balm included!

For Postpartum: Boobie Butter, Perineal Care Items, and Nursing Cover

After you have your baby, you will need some self-care items. The Ultimate Labor + Birth Pack has your essentials. The first thing, perineal care.

All of the perineal care items inside Wumblekin's Labor + Birth pack.

Inside the bag, you’ll find The Honey Pot Postpartum Herbal Pads, A.E.R. Witch Hazel Towelettes, as well as a Gentlepak Perineal Ice Pack + Washable Sleeve. The herbal-infused postpartum pads from Honey Pot bring instant relief to your perineum. The soothing botanicals reduce odor and discomfort and these pads don’t shift around thanks to wings that hold them securely in place to your postpartum underwear.

For swelling and pelvic pain, use the Gentlepak Perineal Ice Pack for instant relief. I love that you can use it cold or hot for what your body needs. Keep these on ice or in the freezer and your bottom will thank you!

The A.E.R. Witch Hazel Towelettes are saturated with 50% Witch Hazel, an astringent that helps to shrink swollen or inflamed tissues and relieve irritation. It also contains 12.5% non-greasy glycerin that acts as a protectant. Together they provide a cool, soothing compress. These are perfect to use after using the restroom for perineal care.

Breastfeeding

All of the breastfeeding items inside Wumblekin's Labor + Birth pack.

For breastfeeding, this pack also comes with Mother Loving Potions All-Natural Boobie Butter and Itzy Ritzy’s 4-in-1 Multi-Use Nursing Cover. Getting a deep breastfeeding latch and keeping your nipples hydrated are very important to avoid chapped, cracked, or bleeding nipples. The all-natural boobie butter will ensure that your nipples stay hydrated and comfortable throughout your breastfeeding journey. The nursing cover will keep you covered and comfortable as you feed your baby on the go. It’s also great to use as a car seat cover, shopping cart seat cover, and infinity scarf!

Get pregnancy and postpartum essentials you actually need and will use without lifting a finger!

Overall, this Ultimate Labor + Birth Pack from Wumblekin is a great box to purchase for yourself or for a friend. I love how you can subscribe to receive a special surprise in the mail throughout pregnancy and that each will only contain items that you will actually need and use. By purchasing their boxes or subscribing, it eliminates the need for you to research specific products; their panel of experts and moms have already sorted through the best products for you. This is an easy way to check off the essentials for your pregnancy, labor, and postpartum list.
