Hey, I’m Nina, The Baby Chick!®–Co-Founder and CEO of Baby Chick® and I am beyond thrilled to start this new adventure with all of you! I wanted to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about my passions, my experience, and what led me to create Baby Chick.
After receiving my degree from the University of Texas at Austin and being out in the working world for a little while, I quickly recognized that I needed to focus on the things that made me happy and follow my true passion, which is supporting and caring for others, particularly women and children. Since then I have helped hundreds of mothers throughout their pregnancies, births, and postpartum journeys. I have assisted over 200 mothers during their labor and birth of their babies and have helped over 500 families as a baby planner, postpartum doula, massage therapist, educator (childbirth classes, newborn care classes, infant massage classes), and more. I have had the privilege of helping all of these families around the greater Houston, TX area with these services over the past six years through my first company Bassett Baby Planning. Once starting this career path, people began to know me and say to me, “I’ve heard of you. You’re that baby chick that works with pregnant moms.” The nickname has now stuck and so people affectionately refer to me as “The Baby Chick®.”
With the knowledge and experience that I have gained over the years supporting women and families, I wanted to not only be able to inspire, educate, and uplift mothers in my area, but also do just that for mothers everywhere. I recognized this need and decided to create Baby Chick, LLC–focusing on the modern mom.
Motherhood is beautiful, rewarding, and amazing in so many ways, however, there are also times that I’ve seen when it feels overwhelming, exhausting, and at times lonely. At Baby Chick I want you to feel like you have a friend, a professional, and a place to go to that will uplift you and inspire you every step of the way so that we can remind you that you’re doing a great job and that you are not alone.
On a more personal level, I am an adoring wife to my husband, Brian (we got married July 4th, 2015 and he’s Baby Chick’s other Co-Founder), I have two crazy fur babies, Lola and Aria (one is a Pomeranian and the other an Alaskan Klee Kai), we are currently expecting our first child in October 2017 (a baby boy!), and I am a first generation born and raised Texan and UT Texas Exes Alumna. When I’m not working with a client, supporting women, reviewing products, working on my businesses…(because obviously I never have enough on my plate, ha!) you can find me catching up with a girl friend or snuggled up on the couch with my hubby talking about ways that we can grow and improve Baby Chick.
Something that shocks almost all of my new clients and followers is how I am not a mother yet. We are currently expecting, but that’s right. I’m not a mom. YET! Because of my vast knowledge on pregnancy, birth, and beyond and being recognized as a mom and baby educator/expert, people immediately assume that I have little ones of my own. When people ask me how many children I have, I answer without hesitation, “A little over 500.” 😉 Obviously that’s impossible, but with each and every single family that I support, educate, and help with the birth of their child, it’s as if their family becomes a part of my family and their children have a place in my heart that will stay with me forever.
I admire every mother that I have gotten to know and help and I am so grateful to say that I love the work that I do. Brian, and I do plan on having more children of our own and I am so looking forward to the day that I get to join this sisterhood of motherhood. October can’t come soon enough! But right now, taking care of all of our clients and customers is our focus. Until then, I feel honored to have assisted and continue to assist all the incredible families that I do.
I hope you have enjoyed getting to know me and I hope I have the pleasure of getting to know you!
