Finding the perfect pair of shoes for baby can be a bit challenging. I would know; I’m on baby number three. As soon as your little dumpling takes those first, wobbly baby steps, you want to find the best shoes to protect those tootsies. Of course, finding a cute pair of baby shoes (or 10) — especially for baby girl — really isn’t the problem. Let’s be real, those suckers are a dime a dozen. But finding a supportive pair of baby shoes that will actually stay on her feet is a bit trickier.
That is, until we tried the Carter’s Every Step brand. We LOVE our Carter’s shoes. Here’s why…

Carter’s Every Step Shoes are available in three convenient stages: Crawl (1), Stand (2), and Walk (3). Carter’s Every Step shoes come equipped with sensory technology — which means that they stimulate your little one’s entire foot surface. How cool is that?
Shoes for Crawlers
For crawlers (stage one), the soft-toe cup protects their sweet little baby feet while they are gliding across your tough, floor surfaces. I don’t know about you, but we love this concept! My babies’ feet (and toenails) got so torn up from crawling around the house at breakneck speed, and I had a terrible time trying to keep regular “crib” shoes on any of them. We were always losing just one shoe, rendering the pair completely useless. But not anymore! This stage one shoe has been great for us and is recommended for babies ages six to nine months. Depending on your child’s shoe size, of course.
Shoes for Standers
When your busy baby is ready to stand, there’s another shoe for that! For standers (stage two), the sensory pods on the bottoms of the shoes help your child feel the ground better. Nothing is worse than a slippery pair of shoes on a baby who’s trying to learn to stand and walk. Think about it this way: would you want to walk across an Olympic sized ice rink in six inch heels? Probably not. So why on earth would you want to put your child through that same frustration? Come on, mama. Stage two is recommended for babies ages nine to 12 months.
Shoes for Walkers
For walkers (stage three), the molded outsoles assist with balance and traction. I CANNOT stress enough the importance of a good, solid pair of shoes when baby is learning to get around the house all by herself. I am a firm believer that when it comes to footwear, you get what you pay for — those $5 sandals you dug out of the baby bargain bin? Probably not so great for your little one’s feet. If it has no sole, it needs to go. You also want to make sure that you have the right fit. Otherwise, you are putting baby’s feet and toenails at risk for all kinds of problems (especially once they really get moving). Not sure what size you need? Check out the awesome shoe chart below. Hashtag, love! These stage three shoes are recommended for babies ages 12 to 18 months. (Or two-year-olds with tiny feet, like my toddler monster.)
