I can’t believe that it was one year ago today that I (and my husband) started Baby Chick. I had a vision to create a place online that celebrated motherhood…and we did it! There are plenty of people and websites out there that talk about the not-so-glamorous side of motherhood, or that make fun of the crazy/annoying/exhausting things about motherhood (which is a good thing because it’s better to laugh about it than cry), but I wanted to create a place online that educates, inspires and uplifts women and mothers. A place that unifies us all and is a great resource for the modern mom. And here we are! This past year, we’ve been recognized by other sites and bloggers and are so excited for what the future holds. I honestly couldn’t be more proud of my team and our website.
To celebrate our one year anniversary, we wanted to do it with a bang! I decided that we should have an event that celebrates mothers not only in our state and country but worldwide! So we partnered with the wonderful Every Mother Counts organization (here) to raise money for their nonprofit and began our journey planning our first annual Mother’s Day Soiree.
We couldn’t be more grateful to the amazing companies that participated in our first event. We want Baby Chick to be known as a company that not only provides great information and excellent customer service but also as a company that gives back. This is why we thought, what better way to do so than to give back to mothers in need.
Our first Mother’s Day Soiree/ 1 year anniversary was held this past Thursday, May 5th at 6:30 pm and we had a blast! Here are some of the amazing photos that were taken by the truly talented Stacy Anderson. Our event was styled by the absolutely amazing Kameela Lewis from Tutus & Bowties Events. We seriously could not have done it without Kameela as well as our presenting sponsor Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. Thank you all so much!

How cute are our party favors for our guests?!
For our first event, we wanted everyone to attend so our general admission was FREE and our VIP tickets were $40 (100% going to Every Mother Counts). We gave all of our 100+ guests a swag bag but our VIP CHICK mamas got an extra special gift…
They received a necklace from the super-talented Ashley Takacs from A. Tak Crafts.
I love her handmade necklaces and I know that our VIP mamas did too. They are all so stunning!
Our guests also received some fun confetti from ConfettiLu that was specifically made with our colors for our soiree! Their confetti is perfect for every party 🙂
Every party needs a bar with all types of drink options so we made sure to have different choices for our moms and expecting moms. There were some delicious choices from Traders Joe’s for our guests to enjoy!
After grabbing a delicious beverage, we had a Beauty Hall where our guests could sign up and enjoy a massage (provided by Zalla Massage), get their makeup done (provided by blendSMART), or even get their hair braided from our braid bar (provided by Sunny Hair & Makeup Artistry)!
The massage room was quite popular!
blendSMART was there with their incredible team and fantastic makeup artists. It was so nice to get our makeup touched up and to see how the blendSMART brush actually works and how easy it is! I highly recommend to every mama!!
So much fun! And the braid bar was too cool. Those ladies from Sunny Hair & Makeup Artistry sure are incredible!
And if that wasn’t enough, we also had a shopping room with several fun vendors to get yourself (or someone else) a little something. 😉

And we also had Gretchen, the owner of A Woman’s Work (here – also one of our sponsors), at the event with her booth. Her store is one of my favorite shops that I believe every new mom needs to visit in Houston.
Once people pampered themselves and got their shopping on, they worked up an appetite and visited our kitchen where Trader Joe’s (on Voss) had the most delicious spread for all of us to enjoy.
And for dessert, we had the most delectable macarons from Mon Cherie Macarons and organic cotton candy from Lush Puff! They were both beautiful treats that curbed my sweet tooth craving and that really hit the sweet spot!
So yummy! And look at how fun the cotton candy was!
We really hope that our sponsors and guests enjoyed their time during our first Mother’s Day Soiree! Our DJ (from LG Entertainment here) was doing such a great job making sure that the night flowed seamlessly and kept it fun!
One of my absolute favorite things at the event was the gorgeous flower wall from Balushka. Seriously…. have you ever seen anything more beautiful?!

And most importantly, it was so great to see familiar faces and meet our new guests as well as see everyone enjoying themselves on this special Mother’s Day event.

Once everything was given out and everyone that volunteered, sponsored, and supported our event was thanked, we had a champagne toast!
I can’t thank you all enough for joining us along our first year as a new company. A major thank you also goes out to the incredible volunteers that helped us at our soiree as well as my extraordinary team. You all are truly the best and I am so grateful for each of you.
