Lauren Ramirez has been writing professionally and otherwise since she was 19 years old. Old mom to a chocolate lab and new mom to a baby girl, this former teacher and current higher education professional has been involved in education and childcare in nearly every capacity. Her interests are food, being the most similar to the good sitcom moms, and writing children's books. Happily married and unhappily not on a beach right now.

Target: the very name conjures up ecstasy, excitement, and the scent of a long-forgotten popcorn stand at the front of the store, in favor of a Starbucks or Jamba Juice. No? Just me? Either way, it feels as though the store has become synonymous with “joyful, budget-wrecking escape” for many mamas, myself included. What’s new and high on our list at Target, this month?

10 Things Every Mama Wants at Target Right Now

1. Books

Tarjay is ALWAYS killing it in the literary game—you can find new releases ranging from spicy beach reads to actually spicy cookbooks on sale the majority of the time, while also counting on the fact that staple reads you’ve been meaning to pick up will likely be there as well. Browse their gorgeous aisles and grab a book (or six)—and it’s okay by us if not a single one of those is a board book about puppies or llamas.

2. Something gorgeous from Opalhouse

Someone at Target is listening: like, REALLY listening. They heard our wistful woes about needing snazzy home décor at the fraction of the costs found elsewhere. Because let’s be real here: you’re not going to high-end boutiques to purchase breakable, smashable wares while you have babies learning to toddle, toddlers learning to draw, and preschoolers learning to destroy—erm, design things themselves. Opalhouse is one of their newest projects that is geared towards modern decorating. The fun and vibrant prints, colors, and textures will have you ready to hand over your dough in favor of play-dough less pillows, throws, and more.

3. Adorable rain boots from the Hunter collaboration

Again with the collaborations, Target! One of the best brands in boots has splashed into stores just in time for spring, and has fresh takes on boots, clothing, and outdoor gear for everyone in the family to enjoy. They’re insanely adorable and surprisingly budget-friendly, so go ahead and hunt yourself down some goodies!

4. A New Day

They’ve really outdone themselves on the clothing front. Gone are the days of begrudgingly grabbing a few tees at Target with your mom—your closet is about to get a serious upgrade. Their newest clothing lines—A New Day, Knox Rose, and Universal Threads—make it look like you actually had time to pair an outfit and shoes to, you know, coordinate. I’m about as low maintenance as they come, but love feeling like I look fly while rocking the mom-bun (and fly-aways).

5. Bath bombs

Very little convincing to do here, people. TREAT. YO. SELF. They have dozens of sweet-smelling options at the Targ-mahal, and some for just a couple of dollars. Smell great and enjoy your bath water being colored from something other than bath crayons or miscellaneous tub toys.

6. Gorgeous shoes

Sandal season is upon us—but that doesn’t mean you can’t snag a pair of beautiful mules or flats for work, for the house, or just because! Target’s shoe game will have your littles wanting to play dress up in mama’s shoes, and maybe even inspire a real dress-up scenario: hello, date night!

8. Twinkle lights

There’s something so alluring about the soft light of twinkly string lights: whether you snag some for your outdoor space or for your little one’s bedtime lights, Target has a killer selection that are reasonably priced, and often go on big-time sale at the beginning and end of the season as well.

9. Sunscreen

Most places are entering the glorious dog days of summer: and you better head to the sunscreen aisle, like, stat. Healthy skin takes some TLC, and that is especially true during the warm spring and summer months. Make sure to peruse the skincare and sunscreen aisle to stock up on tropical-smelling, SPF 50+ goodness for yourself and the fam.

10. Candy on sale

If you’re lucky, you might find some excellent candy on steep sale at Target. Easter candy that is nowhere near its expiration date, and is pennies on the dollar? Reese’s in the shape of an egg, heart, or even (judge me, go ahead) Christmas tree? Count. Me. In.
