When my first little boy was born, I knew absolutely nothing about diapers besides that they were necessary. I quickly came to understand that there were plenty of options for diapers: organic, cloth, and disposable diapers, to name a few. But which type was actually the best? I began to learn that, with diapers, something always had to give.

However, after now having two babies, I’ve learned a thing or two (actually, a lot) about what makes a perfect diaper. I want a diaper that is quality-made, affordable, safe for sensitive skin, and leak-proof. And I’m always really excited when I find a brand of diaper that meets my criteria. That’s exactly how I landed on Rascal + Friends — a premium diaper with a budget-friendly price tag. Whether you’re planning for your registry or your little one is already walking, you’re going to want to check out these diapers.

Who is Rascal + Friends?

I firmly believe you can better understand the integrity of a product once you learn more about the company.

Rascal + Friends is an award-winning New Zealand diaper brand created by a mom of four. She knew parents wanted access to premium, affordable diapers without all the junk inside them, so that’s exactly what she created! And now that they’ve landed in Walmart stores across the US, they’re even easier to find.

Why We Love Rascal + Friends Diapers

Rascal + Friends doesn’t disappoint when it comes to their clean ingredients. In fact, they don’t contain any latex, lotions, or fragrance. And they use water-based inks to be gentle enough for baby’s sensitive skin. Their “no nasties” promise is just one of the reasons our editor-in-chief and mom of two, Nina Spears, absolutely LOVES these diapers as much as I do!

After trying many different diaper brands over the years as a postpartum doula, Nina says, “I’ve tested a lot of diapers, and Rascal + Friends are truly a premium diaper for an incredible price. They are my new favorite!”

You can watch her video HERE using Rascal+ Friends diapers as she demonstrates how to change a baby’s diaper properly.

Say Goodbye to Leaks (Thanks, Rascal + Friends!)

If there’s one thing I’ve experienced multiple times when trialing different diaper brands, it’s the leaks. I’ve used diapers that leak out the sides. Diapers that leak up the back. Diapers that leak in the front. It’s no fun, especially when baby’s bedding ends up soaked in pee or poo. Yuck!

Unlike THOSE diapers, Rascal + Friends gets my vote of confidence in that they seriously do not leak. Their unique 3D Core design increases the diaper’s absorbency area by adding absorbency channels down the side of the diaper to prevent leaks. It’s genius! They also have a high back waistband and a deep pocket to ensure everything stays where it’s supposed to.

Trust me when I say this. I have 2 young, very active boys. They climb, run, crawl, jump — you name it — all day long. If a diaper can withstand their wild antics, you know it’s a good one. Our editor also swears by these diapers, stating how much she loves their softness and that she “trusts Rascal + Friends diapers to contain even the biggest of messes—no leaks yet!

What makes Rascal + Friends gentle on sensitive skin?

Rascal + Friends is transparent and makes their diaper ingredients extremely easy to view on their website. They are also BioChecked, Non-Glyphosate Certified, Dermatologically Certified by Dermatest Guaranteed, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Certified, and certified by PETA to be cruelty-free and vegan. It feels good to know that the diapers I use are clear of the crud and full of the gentle, safe, and clean ingredients for my baby’s bottom.

In fact, my second baby has always had more sensitive skin than my first ever did. I remember waking up in the middle of the night to him fussing and crying, refusing to nurse, and being inconsolable. I changed his diaper, assuming he needed to be cleaned up and came to find a huge rash that wasn’t there a few hours prior. That’s when I realized that his diapers were giving him this reaction! From that day on, I researched each diaper brand and learned the importance of clean, safe, and quality ingredients that SHOULD be used in baby diapers.

Since using Rascal + Friends, my son hasn’t had a single reaction on his skin. I’m not alone in this situation. Our editor-in-chief’s kids also have sensitive skin. She says, “I could immediately tell the difference in their skin when we made the switch. It’s now my go-to diaper.” Just another of many reasons we choose Rascal + Friends.

The Unique Rascal + Friends Fit

Like most diapers, Rascal + Friends come in a variety of sizes to ensure a snug and proper fit for your baby. It’s also worth noting that their sizing is based on a unisex size guide and is a bit different since they’ve come all the way from New Zealand.

Our Editor Switched Diaper Brands — And It Changed Everything

Here are the weight ranges Rascal + Friends recommends for each size:

  • Size 1: 6 to 11 lbs
  • Size 2: 9 to 18 lbs
  • Size 3: 13 to 24 lbs
  • Size 4: 22 to 33 lbs
  • Size 5: 28 to 39 lbs
  • Size 6: 35+ lbs

However, what I love most about their design is their tab design fastens along the hips instead of over the belly. It leaves a snug, secure fit without being too tight around the belly area, which I love (and I think my kids seem to be much more comfortable in these diapers as well).

Where Can I Purchase Rascal + Friends?

Our Editor Switched Diaper Brands — And It Changed Everything

Rascal + Friends can be purchased on Walmart.com and are now available in Walmart stores nationwide! This means you can now stock up on your favorite new diaper brand (because it will be) at one of your favorite local shopping stores. If that’s not convenient, I don’t know what is!

In addition to being easy to purchase, they’re also incredibly affordable, starting at only $0.17 per diaper. On average, most diapers fall between $0.15 to $0.20 per diaper. That puts Rascal + Friends right in the middle. Knowing their diapers are super absorbent, typically have no leaks, use clean ingredients, and are gentle on sensitive skin — this is a bargain price if you ask me.

When it comes to choosing the right diaper for your baby, there are plenty of options out there. But none of them compare to “my favorite premium and affordable diaper,” as our editor-in-chief refers to them. And after using Rascal + Friends myself on a baby and toddler, I couldn’t agree more. So, when is everyone heading to clear out the shelves at Walmart?
