Jessica Tomes is a wife and mommy to three precious (but rambunctious) little girls. She has a degree in broadcast journalism from Texas Christian University, and a nerd-like love for political science. She is passionate about writing, marketing, social media management, and this wonderfully beautiful mess we call parenthood. She happily lives in beautiful Houston, Texas, and also sells real estate!
Summer shower or special event coming up? Don’t know what to wear? We can help with that! This is my third pregnancy after all, so I’ve pretty much become a pro at dressing the bump for any and all occasions at this point. Here are a few of my favorites for this hot, steamy (at least in Houston) season!
Look and feel like the Greek Goddess of fertility in this beautiful number from maternity designer Rachel Pally. This elegant modal jersey maxi dress flows into a full skirt — providing plenty of room for your growing bump. We pretty much love everything Rachel Pally, but the color and design make this dress a hands down favorite for summer! And can you imagine it paired with a fresh, floral crown for maternity photos? #stunning
If this fun little frock from Rosie Pope doesn’t scream summer, we don’t know what else does. Have we mentioned our love for ruffles? And yes, pregnant ladies can wear ruffles. Speaking from experience (I have a slight Rosie Pope addiction), the RP fit is almost always flattering. And this dress is fully lined, so you don’t have to worry about showing more skin than you are comfortable with. Wink. Dress it up or dress it down, we think this dress is perfect for almost every summer occasion.
While technically this is not a maternity dress per se, this dress (in a size up from what I would normally wear), was the perfect summer dress for my own recent Baby Sprinkle. And I am eight months pregnant! I have written about my love for Matilda Jane before, and I know that I will still be able to wear this dress even after baby is born. Hello, baby weight isn’t lost overnight. For the price, it’s basically a no-brainer. And also super cute! Bonus: I can’t wait to wear it next year for Houston Rodeo season (with some trendy cowgirl boots)!
This LBD from maternity designer Isabella Oliver proves pregnancy can be very, very sexy. (But oh so classy at the same time!) We are pretty much obsessed with this dress. Perfect for an evening event — shower or otherwise. You know you’ll be turning heads in this number! (And your hubby will probably want to knock you up all over again.)
So pretty, so feminine, and so easy to wear. Every pregnant woman should have a dress exactly like this one in her wardrobe. This fun pop of color from Ingrid and Isabel is sure to make a statement at your shower. The one downside? You will probably tire of hearing how fabulously incredible you look. Wink.
What are you planning to wear for your Summer Baby Shower? We’d love to see! Use the hashtag #babychicksummerstyle when sharing to social media. You might even get a re-share! Stay fabulous, Mommy Chicks! We know you will look beautiful, no matter what you wear. You always do! xoxo
