Happy Monday, everybody! I can’t believe that it’s now August. Where is the year going?! I feel like summer just started. But here we are, starting another week and a new month. And new possibilities.
If you couldn’t tell by now after reading some of my posts and learning more about Baby Chick, it’s my mission, my passion and my intention to empower, inspire, and support women. Especially during their journey through motherhood. I have had the absolute pleasure of helping so many women throughout the years during their pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. And I have seen just how these different transitions in life can be difficult, overwhelming and painful, but at the same time wonderful and beautiful. We are always harder on ourselves than we should be. This is why I (and our blogger chicks) like to write about things that will allow our readers to learn something new, try something different, feel more prepared, see a new perspective, have a laugh, and/or feel better about their day. And I want our readers/Mommy Chicks to know that you are not alone and YOU are a good mom.
Starting this new month, I wanted to shine a spotlight on all the mamas that are breastfeeding or have breastfed their babes. (Let me first say, I support all women, whether they decide to breastfeed or bottle-feed.) Since Saturday was the Big Latch On and this week is World Breastfeeding Week, I thought that this would be a great moment to send some much needed and deserved love to these incredible mamas. Whether breastfeeding came naturally and was easy for you or it was tough for a while and something you had to work through, you gave your baby/babies an amazing gift. World Breastfeeding Week is all about encouraging and educating women and the world about breastfeeding. It’s an annual celebration held on August 1 – 7 as an opportunity for groups worldwide to take specific actions that will raise public awareness about breastfeeding and reap support for it.
Here are some great facts about breastfeeding.
Women truly are amazing. Think about it. We are educated, work hard at our jobs, can conceive a child, carry a child, give birth, nourish our babies with our breastmilk, run a household, and more. It’s mind-blowing and inspiring if you think about all that we are capable of. As the great Beyonce said, “Strong enough to bear the children, then get back to business.” Girls really do run the world. (Look here and here. 😉 )
Here are some fabulous celebrity mamas that also chose to breastfeed their babies.
So remember just how phenomenal you are and have a yourselves a great week. Support your fellow Mommy Chicks and go run the world!
