I’ve been really looking at the clothes hanging in my closet over the last few months. It has made me realize what I’ve been missing as well as what direction I’d like to take my wardrobe. Simple, classic, feminine, comfortable and effortless. That’s the look that I’m going for. So now that it’s a new season, and my second favorite (summer will always be my first love), it’s time to redefine my (and your) wardrobe for the fall. I’ve found some FABULOUS pieces that I think we all should add to our closets.
While creating this list, I considered several things that I thought to be basic and essential for mix-matching and creating every type of fall-looking outfits. These are my favorite items that I use as a starting point when putting together outfits this time of year. Here are my ULTIMATE fall fashion must-haves for 2015:
Everyone needs a good blazer in their closet. It always turns a cute, casual outfit to professional chic. Here are some great fall pieces. Basically black, camel, gray, navy, red, or army green are some staple fall colors to invest in.
2. TRENCH COAT
I love my navy Burberry trench coat and am considering getting another in a different color. Since they have such a steep price tag and my budget just won’t cover it right now, here are some other great options to consider.
3. MOTO JACKET
I got a great moto jacket from L.A.M.B. a few years ago and it has always been a go-to for my fall wardrobe. It’s a great way to spice up your look and give you some edge.
4. DENIM JACKET
Denim jackets are a popular piece to wear during Spring, but I’m all about it for Fall. It’s a great piece for layering.
5. FUR VEST
These may be a bit trendy, but I love a fur vest and are a must-have in my fall wardrobe. The problem is, I have a hard time finding one that doesn’t look super fake, but also doesn’t have an outrageous price. If you happen to find a good one in your size, I recommend snatching it up before it’s gone!
6. UTILITY VEST
Army/olive green is such a useful color when it comes to putting Fall looks together. It looks great with a casual look and adds another interesting dimension and layer to your look.
7. UTILITY JACKET
But really though, have you not seen these things everywhere lately? I sure have! I think they are such a cool look this Fall and the army green really acts as a neutral. I love this one from Topshop because it’s super thin and easy to layer (and not feel like a marshmallow) and then I also like this one (highly recommend and also comes in black) because it’s cut a little bit more like a jacket and has a different look than the Topshop one.
Plaid is such an easy pattern to mix and match and great for adding accents to a basic outfit. It’s a staple for Fall. I love this classic red and black plaid and it’s under $50!
Just like plaid, it’s an obvious one (or a few) to have in your closet.
Because they’re comfy and awesome and look cute too. 🙂 I think you need both a shorter/cropped one for layering gingham/plaid underneath and then you also need one that’s oversized to wear with booties and skinny jeans.

11. PUFFER VEST
Talk about the quintessential fall staple…I think we all have one of these by now. Right? If not, you can get a less expensive one at Old Navy, but I prefer the J.Crew ones because the fit is so much better and has a more polished look.
J. Crew $120.00
12. OPEN FRONT CARDIGANS
It’s great for throwing on after-the-fact and looking effortlessly chic and being comfortable at the same time.
13. CHUNKY PULLOVERS
LOVE these! I need them all in my closet now.

A classic black hat adds a touch of sophisticated chic to any outfit. I personally prefer the fedora style, but that’s mostly because I think I look a little silly in just about ALL hats.
15. HUNTER BOOTS
Hunter boots are great for any time of the year, but I think they’re super cute to wear more regularly (even when it’s not necessarily raining) during the Fall.
16. RIDING BOOTS
These with cute leggings and a striped shirt with a scarf, and you are good to go! Riding boots really polish the whole look.
17. SUEDE BOOTS
Suede boots totally say Fall. Love all of these options. And the fringe!
18. COZY SOCKS
Comfy socks look so cute when peeking out of your boots. And they are great for just wearing them around the house too!
I love these lace up ones for under $100!
Scarves are great to have when you need that one little detail to pull an outfit together. These are some of my favs.
21. DISTRESSED DENIM
There’s just something about distressed denim that looks undone and effortlessly chic. I hope they NEVER go out of style.
22. LEATHER LEGGINGS
Leather leggings are a great alternative to your everyday black jeans/pants and they automatically add a dressier/sassier look to a simple outfit. Maybe they’re not essential, but I do think they’re fun to play around with and are super cute with longer-ish tunics.
23. BASIC TOTE
Love a cute, basic tote. Black or this cognac color are perfect for Fall.
Do I even need to say anything here? Stripes ARE neccessary and I’m starting to think that I really can’t have too many because they all serve different purposes. I wear them every season, but they are truly perfect for Fall.
Chambray is great for layering and just a necessary basic.
26. LEOPARD ACCENTS
To me, leopard will always be a neutral. They are perfect for classic outfits and tying together brown and black. You can never go wrong!
Let me know if you have any suggestions that you would add to the list!
