Last year, I had the privilege to accompany Nina and Sarah (fellow Baby Chick blogger!) to the ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas. Now, I know what you’re thinking..VEGAS? That must have been a blast! Well, you know what “they” say…”What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas”! Just kidding. We were so tired after talking to a ton of people and walking all over the convention center that all we wanted to do was prop up our feet in our sweet suite and talk about all the people we met and the cool new products we were introduced to. (Okay, we went out one night and had a blast at dinner and the Cosmo bar..so we didn’t totally let you down.)

One of the companies we were introduced to was Mommy Water, a prenatal DRINK. That’s right, mommas..a drink! You know, as opposed to a pill the size of your face that leaves you gagging and is chock-full of so much iron that it leaves you feeling like you’ve got a lead brick in your belly. At the time, no one in the group was pregnant but we were drawn in by the ingenuity of the product and the excitement the founders had when explaining the product. They gave each of us “shots” of the different flavors and everyone agreed that they were quite tasty! I was honestly a little bit shocked, I didn’t expect much from a prenatal drink.

Fast-forward to today and I’ve found myself swallowing those aforementioned pills once again…and hating every minute of it. I mean, I have to make sure to have some sort of flavored drink to be able to do it! (My drink of choice? Chocolate milk.) There have been a few times when I’ve found myself without such a tasty chaser and, as much as I love chocolate milk, I’d rather not be inconvenienced like that again. I also can’t believe it took me the entire first trimester to remember Mommy Water!

But. I’m so glad I did. Aside from saving me a gag reflex every night, Mommy Water has added a little spice to my regular routine of drinking water..and more water. I was a little concerned I wouldn’t like the flavor of a whole drink since we’d only had a little teaser-taste at Expo, but I’ve been really happy with each of the three flavors. (Mommy Water comes in Lemon Zest, Berry Splash, and Grapefruit Mint.) My favorite so far has been Berry Splash because it’s the sweetest. Now, I don’t normally like sweet things, my taste profile is closer to tart and tangy, but the other flavors get a SLIGHT bit chalky towards the end of the drink despite having Stevia added to them. (I mean, come on, we’re not drinking Gatorade here.) But it’s important to note I still enjoyed the lemon and grapefruit and could drink them on a regular basis and on the website I found a page from their blog about using Mommy Water for Mocktails! How fun is that?

I also feel GOOD about drinking Mommy Water because the creators and founders are doctors and nutritionists that I found trustworthy. I like that they listened to their ob-gyn patients complaints with the prenatal pills, realized that products on the market were lacking complete care, and decided to do something about it by introducing these prenatal powders into the market. The creators made sure that their product was well-balanced and included things like electrolytes, Choline, Pyridoxine (to alleviate nausea), and prebiotic fiber (to, uh, regulate “things”) plus more benefits.

The first night I tried Mommy Water I begrudgingly reached for those damn horse-pills and then remembered that hey, I already DRANK my pre-natals! And then proceeded to throw those pills away! Yahoo!
