It’s back to school shopping time! The time of year when kids get excited for their new looks and being in a new grade level, and parents get excited for their kids being back in school. 😉 I have some of the best memories of going shopping for my back to school outfits with my mom as a kid and I am a bit shocked but more excited that it’s now my turn to do the same for my son!
Since my son’s a toddler (and we never know how well a shopping trip will go with a toddler in tow), I went shopping online for back to school clothes. With kids playing hard and growing fast, I wanted to get pieces that look cute, have durability, and are affordable. Walmart was a great place to go! They have some really cute on-trend styles that let our kids feel and look their best on their first day back. From dresses to jeans, shoes to backpacks, they’ve got us covered! And their everyday low prices make it that much better for parents. 🙂 Here are my favorite looks for boys and girls this school year!
Look #1: Casual Cute
Boy

Buy Baseball Cap Buy Outfit Set Buy Sandals Buy Backpack
For a casual cute look, this 2-piece outfit set fits the bill! Moms of toddler boys will love it. The plaid poplin button down shirt with these easy and durable canvas shorts are perfect for them to wear when they want to play hard but you also want them to look nice. I also like that both have been pre-washed for extra softness and comfort.
I paired it with my son’s favorite sandals (you can also do tennis shoes), an Astros hat and this dinosaur backpack. It’s totally dino-mite!

Buy Cami & Top Buy Paperbag Pants Buy Bow Mules Buy Backpack
Could this outfit be any cooler? Seriously, this cami and top with paperbag pants and adorable bow mules makes for the cutest back to school outfit. If only they had them in my size! The ruffle sleeves and collar and elastic waist on the top adds the perfect feminine touches and the jersey tank keeps our beautiful girls covered. And don’t get me started on these stylish paperbag pants and the bows on the mules. Totally one of my favorite looks! We paired it with this fun unicorn backpack.
Look #2: Uniform
Boy

Buy Button Down Buy Khaki Shorts Buy Cardigan Buy Sneakers
If your little boy or girl needs a school uniform wardrobe, Walmart can help. This white short-sleeve button down shirt is tag-free and is crafted in Wrinkle No More™ fabric. A true classic to have in the closet. Pair it with these khaki shorts, cool cardigan, and adorable high top sneakers and you add flair and style to the school uniform.

Buy Pink Polo Buy Khaki Skort Buy Shoes
This pink feminine fit polo shirt is a school uniform essential for girls. I love the picot collar and cute flower buttons on the placket. And this khaki skort with the cutest sparkle athletic shoe allows our girls to play hard. Who said school uniforms have to be boring? 😉
Look #3: Jeans
Boy

Buy Raincoat Buy Cotton Tee Buy Jeans Buy Rain Boots
Our kiddos can still look cool at school on rainy days! This organic cotton pocket tee (comes in a set of three) with jeans and a raincoat and these adorable frog rain boots is the sweetest look. My son thinks he’s so cool with his rain boots (he doesn’t want to ever take them off) and I have to agree. 🙂

Buy Chambray Top Buy Floral Jeggings Buy Sneakers
Chambray is so in style right now so I had to pick a cute chambray top with these fun stretchy white floral printed jeggings. And these cool pink sneakers are the best. These mesh sneakers are super comfortable and I like how they are slip-ons. The laces are just decorative so they are perfect for all kids including ones who can’t tie shoes just yet. With this back to school outfit she’s casual and cute and ready to kick butt in class!
Look #4: Picture Day
Boy

Buy Polo Buy Pants Buy Shoes Buy Backpack
Picture day can put a lot of pressure on parents. It’s a picture that will be saved in parents’ wallets and will be in the school year book. We want to have sweet looks that capture our kid’s style and personality while still looking put together. For little boys, a classic polo with a cool print is a great idea. My son loves the water so this polo with shark fins is perfect. The blue on the print goes great with these blue corduroy pants. The pants are still comfortable for our little guy to play in but also dresses him up for a special day. Pair these with his blue shoes and his shark backpack and he’s ready to go!

Buy Chambray Dress Buy Denim Jacket Buy Sandals
And I had choose this ruffle chambray dress with mini cacti on it. Beyond adorable! Layer it with a cool white denim jacket and these precious bow strap sandals and she’s sure to have a great picture day!
These are my favorite back to school outfits for kids! Walmart for the win! It made back to school shopping so much easier and the kids love the clothes. I particularly love that the items came right to my door, and I really love their policy of free 2-day shipping and returns for purchases over $35. There was one item that I actually could pick up the same day at my nearest Walmart, which was super convenient. Ordered it online and they had it waiting for me at their pick-up location!
School is around the corner and as you can see, Walmart has cute looks for kids and great prices for parents! Check these posts for more cute little girl and little boy looks from Walmart!
