A Baby Chick Nursery Reveal: Welcome Brooklyn Olivia!
As soon as we found out we were having another baby girl, I could’t wait to get started on her nursery. We already had A TON of baby girl stuff. Obviously. Baby Brooklyn has two big sisters, so that’s kind of a given. However, that didn’t negate the fact that I wanted to create a special space for the newest (and quite possibly final) addition to our family. Most of the furniture we already owned — no need to reinvent the wheel, am I right? But I tried to put a new spin on the room with accessories and decor. Disclaimer: my taste is a bit on the eclectic side, and I almost always purchase items I could see using in multiple areas of my home. Brooklyn’s nursery was no different. Read on to see what I (with the help of my interior designer) came up with — and check out a few of my “Mommy Chick Must-Haves” along the way!
Mama Favorite: The 4moms bounceRoo is a #newbabymusthave.
You guys. I kid you not, this chair is a LIFESAVER. As a rookie mom, I mistakenly thought my brand new baby would want to sleep in her own crib, in her own nursery every single night — starting with the first night home from the hospital. Boy, was I wrong. See, I am convinced that every new mom needs two things: a really great bouncer, and a really great bottle of Moscato. This is Baby Brooklyn’s favorite place to nap and hang out during the day. (Thankfully it’s lightweight and portable!) Just don’t forget to buckle baby in place! The bounceRoo comes with three unique vibration modes (heartbeat, wave, and bee) — we love heartbeat. Choose your favorite sleek, modern fabric option, and get ready to soothe your own baby in style!
Design Element(s): Cute cloud pillow and traveling play pad from Blabla Kids.
When it comes to decorating baby’s room, can you ever have too much cuteness? We say, no way! I will confess I am a big fan of BlaBla Kids. (Maybe a little too much.) So colorful and whimsical, their adorable knit dolls are basically my weakness. And my girls love them, too. 😉 So when I saw this adorable knit cloud pillow, and ridiculously cute travel play pad, I knew Baby Brooklyn just had to have them. I was right. I also love using the travel play pad with our travel crib (for my toddler). It’s the perfect amount of cush for her sweet little noggin when we are sleeping away from home (and I want to keep her contained). Now that’s what I call double duty.
Mama Favorite: Three girls, three pairs of Freshly Picked Moccasins.
My roundup of Mama (and Baby) favorites wouldn’t be complete without some Freshly Picked Mocs. (Basically the best shoes on the planet.) I am slightly obsessed with these super cute shoes. And I know you guys will be also! Baby Brooklyn doesn’t quite fit into her shoes just yet, but I know she will look adorable in them! (My children have incredibly small feet. Emma Kate was still wearing 12 months sized shoes for her second birthday.) We obviously couldn’t leave out big sisters!
Mama Favorite: Sweet Peanut Layette + Receiving Blankets.
We love our super soft layette from Sweet Peanut! And how adorable is that pink and white striped receiving blanket? Hashtag, I die. Simple, ultra soft organic cotton in the cutest colors and patterns, make this mama oh so happy. And the no-fuss closures are an added bonus! Because experienced mamas know that nobody wants to change dirty diapers in a fussy outfit. Especially in the middle ofthe night. You feel me? And can you tell I like stripes…
Design element(s): Gold dotted sheet, the perfect pouf, and feminine “bow” wall hooks from The Land of Nod.
The Land of Nod is one of my favorite places to shop for unique gift ideas and nursery+littles decor. I mean, how cute is this gold dotted crib sheet? (I really wanted to incorporate some gold and aqua this time around. Without going over the top, of course.) And my kiddos are goo-goo over the pouf. (We may have to order a couple more!) It’s the perfect place to prop my feet when I’m breastfeeding or rocking Baby Brooklyn in my chair, and the girls love to sit on it and read stories to each other. I obviously couldn’t pass up the bow-shaped wall hooks…I mean, come on. #soladylike
Design Element: Custom Wall Art
Like most of America, I am a big fan of HGTV’s Fixer Upper and the adorable couple behind the show, Chip and Joanna Gaines. Ever since I saw THE SIGN on the show, I knew I had to have it. When we found out we were pregnant with baby number three, I made it my personal mission to find the sign for my own nursery. Luckily, Judy from TheSignFactory (on Etsy) had one exactly like it. BOOM. The sign was mine. And then I found Emily from FaithPrintsShop (another Etsy shop) and SHE designed a beautiful, custom piece for my nursery, and basically my heart sang. Let’s just say I will be ordering from these ladies again. Okay? Highly recommend!
Mama Favorite: Keep an ear on baby with the SmartNOVA Baby Monitor from Belly Armor.
Our old baby monitor bit the dust when we moved from Montana back to Texas. I was so excited to find this monitor from Belly Armor. The sleek SmartNOVA emits 97% less radiation than a traditional DECT baby monitor, while still achieving clear, private communication. (It doesn’t connect to a wireless router, so you don’t have to worry about creepy interference from neighbors down the street, either. Or worse.) With the SmartNOVA baby monitor, you’ll (obviously) be alerted when baby is awake and making noise, but you’ll also be able to track the temperature in baby’s room. (It appears right on the screen. How cool is that?) AND it includes a nightlight with dimmer. Hashtag, awesome sauce. Have you noticed my affinity for cool, baby technology yet?
So what do you think? What was your nursery inspiration? What are your favorite mommy must-haves? Besides wine, of course. Not that we don’t love a good recommendation! 😉 Feel free to share in the comments section below, or tag us in your photos when you share to social media using the hashtag #mommychickmusthaves! A big thank you to all of the companies that participated in this round-up, and helped to create the BEST NURSERY EVER! Until next time…
