For this month’s featured Mommy Chick, I have chosen the beautiful, hilarious, hardest working mama with the biggest heart that I know; Jaclyn from Beauty and the Binky. She is someone that you will never forget and you will leave her feeling inspired. Jaclyn puts her heart and soul into everything that she does and is someone that I definitely admire. Needless to say, she is the perfect Mommy Chick for August. And I found out that August is her birthday month! So without further ado, please welcome our August Mommy Chick, Jaclyn!
Hey Jaclyn! So, as you know, I’ve adored you since we first met. You are such an inspiring woman and a ton of fun! If you were to describe yourself in three words what would they be and why?
I think it was love at first sight, Nina, because we’re the same three words! 😉 I’d describe myself as energetic, hard working, and colorful. I have a superhuman amount of energy that I pour into the work that needs to be done to accomplish my goals. I’m also quite unique, so meeting me is always memorable.
I know that you started your blog because you wanted to share your breastfeeding journey (which I love). How would you describe your blog today and what can we expect to read in the future?
With all hobbies, my blog has really evolved to encompass all motherhood topics, including keeping my style in motherhood. I try to talk about parenthood in a completely honest way, in hopes that people can really relate. I’ve always loved sharing information and encouraging others, which is something I’m trying to bring back to my blog again! In the future, I imagine I’ll continue being way too blunt about motherhood and share even more encouraging posts related to breastfeeding, motherhood, and style.
I already can’t wait!
When planning your content calendar, what kinds of work projects excite you the most?
Ohhhhh, I loooove the posts that I found a really unique way to incorporate a product/service into something more personal. I don’t do “reviews,” so I love getting super creative to work things onto my blog organically.

What’s the #1 thing that you want people to take away from your site when they visit your blog?
I really hope people can read my personality from my blog and take something away, like a friend giving you advice or motivating you. I also really hope people feel encouraged, I want other mama’s (and women) to walk away thinking, “Well, SHE can do it/did it, so I can, too!”
I know that everyone asks you, “How do you do it all?” (You seriously are super productive and great with time management!) What are your tips on how to juggle it all?
I’m a big ‘JUST DO IT’ kind of person. I spend very little time actually planning, talking about doing things, or perfecting things I’ve done. I just do it.
Do you have a lifesaving beauty product? Baby product?
My lifesaving beauty product is definitely concealer for under my eyes. I look like a whole new woman when I’ve brightened the area under my eyes. Also, BATISTE DRY SHAMPOO, YO. (You have to follow my Snapchat to see how many days I go between washing my hair! Follow JaclynKKent on Snapchat!)
You’re such a stylish mama! Where do you get your style inspiration?
Why, thank you. 🙂 I honestly wanted to beat the stereotype of becoming a frumpy mom and that constantly motivates me to continue to be my best version of myself both in motherhood and outside of being a mom.

What’s the greatest lesson or lessons that motherhood has taught you?
I’ve learned more about my own strength and abilities than anything else. Motherhood had shown me how patient and grateful I am. I think, most of all, it has taught me that I have more in me than I ever knew.
What are your favorite things about being a mother?
My favorite things about being a mother are having someone who loves you unconditionally, carrying the strength of everything you struggle with and overcome in motherhood, and having the chance to shape a human being. Motherhood is the most heartwarming and important role there is.
As a seasoned mama, what’s a piece of advice that you wish you would have known and would like to share with expecting moms and/or brand new mothers?
In line with a lot of the information shared here on Baby Chick, I wish I would have known more about birthing options and how to advocate for myself (or that I should have had someone present to do so). I trust that the mama’s reading the Baby Chick blog have some great insight, but I hope they go into birth feeling knowledgable, empowered, and in charge.

What are your greatest hopes for your son’s future?
I’ve honestly tried to put any expectations of societal norms out of my head when it comes to my son. My greatest hope would be that he is kind and considerate to everyone and that he is confident in himself. Everything else is just details.
What are your greatest hopes for women and mothers everywhere?
My greatest hope for women and mothers is that they can all truly learn to love themselves as they are and find value in their strengths. Being a woman is hard and being a mom is hard. We all have our own insecurities and road blocks. I hope that women, collectively, can grow to appreciate themselves.
